've reached the point of suspecting I have a RAM issue as an explanation for some odd behavior I've had (3 crashes in 3 weeks). I have two 256 MB sticks, and I read sometime back that the hardware test disk that came with my dual g4 1.25 GHz tower should help me figure this out.
I get an error right off the bat! I've read the pdf file that comes on the disk, so I've made sure nothing extra is attached to the comp other than apple products and all that... but the very first line I get once the test disk gets loaded is
invalid memory access at %SRR0: ae0c0108 %SRR1: 0c01086f
I then can tell it "mac-boot" and it goes on to another screen where it gives me another error message mentioning SRR0 and SRR1 again (not quite the same codes).
I again tell it "mac-boot" and it gets to flashing an alternating folder and questionmark as if it's looking for something... and it never gets there.
I searched Google and this list's archives to try to find some reference to immediate errors using this disk. No luck.
Can any of you point me to a website that you think talks about this? I'm not against paying someone to consult with me on the phone about what I'm seeing, but I'd like to read how this disk can be used and how it ought to work (screenshots would be nice).
Not to sure about the Hardware test disk but i have used Memtest to test and solve a memory problem I had with my Dual MDD. It can be found at;
