coming shortly in Audacity will be click/pop/hiss type filters (v1.2.2 they say); this wiki support page suggests some other unix utils to try. I found reports that indicated the GnuWaveCleaner mentioned on the wiki compiled fine under OS X. I didn't look for binaries but I'm sure someone has done it and has them posted someplace.
I'm sure there are other tools as well.
