it should be fine, and i believe that the fuse in question is a self resetting one,
though
it's best not to pop those all the time. i'll actually be using 2 keyboards and 2
trackballs soon so that i can have one on the "desk" and one on the electronics bench
facing it, the monitor can just be turned around. not so insane. i have used a mouse
and
a trackball before as well. if it became a real problem, you could always add a relay
and
a 5V supply separate from the mac and have as many as you want.
a couple of years ago someone wanted to make a 100' adb cable, which of course the spec
says you can't do, i told them how and apparently it worked flawlessly, though they
never
would say what it was for (the trick is to use shielded cable, with heavy wires for the
power/ground or multiple smaller wires and ground the shield at the mac end only, in
any
case it worked!).
specs generally tell you what something has to do and what you aren't supposed to do,
you
can often get away with more and any thing that meets a spec should surpass it slightly
(not exceed, which has a numerical meaning that may be in the wrong direction, though
the
term is often abused in that way, it's one of my minor pet peeves in documentation).
by the way, i do have a 10# halon fire extinguisher next to my computer, haven't
needed it
yet, but like the ups that just beeped for 5 seconds it's good to have just in case.

Tell more about that. Could help answering your question.

Time to stop beating around the bush. Beat the bush _itself_.
Give it a good thrashing, and say "bad bush!" in a loud stern tone.
