What I meant was: the simple fact that the ISP in question was willing to acknowledge anything on the end user's side *beyond* the ISP-provided modem impressed me. If you're an ISP, it's simply easier for you to say: "when we install you, we'll help you configure the DSL modem and one computer to talk to that modem. If you have multiple computers utilizing the connection and you run into problems that are not directly related to the equipment we've provided (i.e. our modem), you're on your own." That's the sort of "support" experience I'm familiar with. It sounds like the ISP in question here (Alltel) may actually give a poop about their end users.
