In a message dated 10/4/04 I wrote: <<I'm trying to upgrade an Adaptec's PowerDomain 29160N SCSI board from v1.0 using their v1.2 flash utility in OS 9.2.2
After running the flash utility I get an error message: "One or more of the boards were not upgraded while programming the ROM. Error code -200." [minus 200] And the flash utility program now says: "No firmware installed. Failed to update to version 1.2 Opening the flash utility a second time it still properly identifies the card and reads: "No Firmware installed. Can be upgraded to version 1.2" However, more attempts at the upgrade result in same error messages. I have tried different PCI slots. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks --glen Computer: B & W Rev 2, G3/350, 576 RAM, OS 10.3.5 & 9.2.2 >> ----------------------------------------------------- Problem solved -- at least for today. If anyone is interested or has received the -200 error while attempting to upgrade Adaptec firmware read on. Same error messages appeared after attempting to upgrade the card on a different Mac. I pulled the card and went over it with a loop (optical magnifier). One set of pins in the 68 pin ribbon cable receptacle appeared damaged. It looked like a contact or lack of contact problem. I inserted a 68 pin cable with nothing attached to straighten out the deformity. Then I tried to run the v1.2 flash utility and received this message: "v1.2 Firmware installed. Can be upgraded to version 1.2" I canceled upgrade and checked ASP which confirmed the card ROM# is 1.2. Apparently one of my earlier attempts succeeded. The card as of today is working. It mounts bootable drives in OS 9 and OS X. I haven't had time to check performance. --glen (digest mode) -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
