David,

You did not say which OS you are using, so I am going to assume ten-point-something.

If you downloaded the latest driver from Belkin's web site, it installed a small application in your apps folder. That application is where I configured our adapter. (I am at work and the machine using the adapter is at home, so my memory on this might be a little fuzzy)

There were a couple of Tabs in the application window. One allowed you to specify the name of the wireless network you want to automatically connect too. There were two places to set various "modes." I used the automatic setting on those. The adapter will set the channel itself. There was another tab where you set either a password or an encryption key. I just entered our key there. The last tab had a place to give you settings a name.

For what it is worth, I always turn all the security, encryption, etc. off on our router when adding something new like this. After I get it working, I go back and turn the security features back on. I then do a restart of the DSL modem, router and all the machines connected to the setup. Doing a restart of the router from within the router configuration window just never seems to do it for our mixed bag of OS 9 through OSX machines using a mixture of Apple and third party hardware. And, if I don't restart the computers, at least one of them will complain about not being able to find the internet or a networked printer.

I just purchase one also, using it with a G4 yikes. It works fine if I don't set a password for the network, but I don't know how to use it when there is a network password. Can you please enlighten me?

Last night, I was pleasantly surprised by the $19.99 OWC Belkin USB wireless adapter.
