Hi all,
First I want to thank the list folks for their
tips to me and others that got me past a hanging G3
Beige that didn't seem to recognize its CD for the Jag
install. It took ALL of pulling the battery and power
cord, pushing the CUDA, waiting, then resetting all in
open firmware just to get it going again, then using
XPostFacto to get it past where it hung before, then
restarting the machine each time it hung and watching
it actually progress... whew! Jaguar is up and seems
to function well so far. As far as I know... :)
However: It does have a couple of messy video regions
over the buttons at the bottom of the desktop for iCal
and Address book that sorta clear up and show the
progam icon when you click on them and start the
program, but next bootup they're back. They have
funky mostly horizontal lines that look like the back
of a rug sample. Sometimes they're a generic CD
picture. Ideas? Reinstall again??
Other item: the Beige doesn't recognize a Sony P31
digital camera plugged in via the Belkin PCI USB card.
I tried the 1.4.1 USB driver under OS 9.2.2 on
another partition as some suggested to another person.
Tried iPhoto under Jaguar. Tried changing the card
for a new one, tried it in a different slot, even
bought a new cable, nothing. Sony's manual is
maddeningly vague about even what setting the camera
should be on. Shouldn't it at least be showing up on
the desktop? (I'm a newbie on 9.2.2 & OSX.) I tried
a cellphone patch cord and Networks recongnizes the
phone on USB fine, but the only icon popping onto the
desktop for that is the telephone in the top band once
it was selected in Networks. That's about all the USB
stuff I have so far. Anybody been there with a
similar camera and Mac and made it work? Preferably in
Jaguar?
Thanks!
Jim
