You can use Pacifist http://www.charlessoft.com/ to install the DVD player components from your OS X CDs. I just had to do that on a B&W a month or so ago.

However, I copied the DVD player from my MDD, worked fine.
Excellent the way it changes language automatically.
I've got an English system on the MDD and a Swedish on the G3.
