This sounds almost like a failing switch, especially since resetting switches fixed the problem initially. Can you ping the FW800 box from the others when this happens?
I'd have to say yes, because once it's up and running I can run all apps from the FW800 machine without a hiccup.
I cannot connect via Chooser but can connect via Network Browser.
Weird stuff. :-/
