I ran my Umax S900 for years with an old Apple ADB from my LCII for trouble shooting and a USB Microsoft Internet Keyboard Pro for day-to-day use. I never had any problems.

I just sat the Apple keyboard on top of the tower and placed it on my lap when I needed it.

I have a hybrid PCI Mac and a Beige G3 Server. I use ADB keyboards
and trackballs at the present. I've avoided USB for the simple reason
that when troubleshooting, USB keyboards are of no use.

My question is: can on have an ADB keyboard hooked up to one of these
devices, rarely used and reserved for emergency, while regularly
using a USB keyboard and trackball?

I'm using OS 9.1 at present on both Macs. I am thinking of going
to OS X on the server. And I was thinking of using a USB switchbox
to keep both onscreen and usable....

So, can I use both, or must it be one or the other? Can one MAINLY
use USB, but then keep the ADB hooked up just for emergencies?

Thanks.
