I would like to replace the DVD-ROM with a DVD-RW for data backup purposes.
No plans for A/V copying or duplicating at this time.

I am considering the Pioneer DVR-108. I like the dual layer storage capacity.

Concerns:

1) From what I read this drive is bootable, yes? This is a must.

2) Will Pioneer DVR-108 replace the DVD-ROM in the Sawtooth with no case
hacks or new plastic faceplates?

3) Patchburn -- is this necessary to burn data DVD's, I have toast 5.x?

4) Since I'm a newbie to the Sawtooth where can I find info on upgrading
DVD-ROM with a newer drive? Basically a take apart and put back together. I will
figure it out but a web site/link (if one exists) will speed up the process.

5) Is the Pioneer DVR-108 a bad choice? Should I consider another DVRW?

Dunno much about the Pioneer, but I'm happy with my Sony CD-RW/DVD drive
(52x32x52x16x).
I was able to install it in my G4/450/AGP without any problem.
I suppose it's bootable. Have not tried. YMMV.
