I don't mean to be 'pissy' about this, but really....System 7 is not a topic that is relevant to most users of a G3, G4 or G5. Maybe OS 8, 8.1, 8.5 or 8.6 because I know a lot of the original iMacs shipped with it. I had a G3 desktop that came with OS 8.1 but the MAJORITY of us run either 9.x or OS X. So......

Strange. I specifically remember doing the up-to-date CD installers for OS 8.0 on my school's G3/266MT since they all shipped with 7.x. (7.6.1 if I remember correctly)

I just checked the database on Apple and noted that the earliest OS that the G3 266 introduced in 1997 ran was 8.0. It probably wouldn't boot 7.5.3....so, isn't this off topic?
