sorry, there should be a smilley after the capitalized word, i would not seriously call any one on the list stupid, i certainly wouldn't do it on list! my replies were meant to help, please read the rest of the email in question. what you use a machine for has a direct bearing on how concerned you should be about security, if you do your' business payroll and have other sensitive information on it it's frankly irresponsible not to take basic security measures, it could result in legal problems or business problems. failing to alleviate known threats by taking simple common practice measures, like running anti-virus software and a good firewall can leave you open to a lawsuit very easily. i'm not a lawyer, but it's a basic legal principle that failing to take "reasonable measures" is actionable should there be a "damaged" party.
