I just bought this iBook about 2 weeks ago at my local Apple Store for $999.00. I also added a 512 RAM stick which was another $200.00. MacMall is offering the same plus free RAM upgrades and a free printer (after rebates)....so it all comes out to about the same. I believe MacWarehouse is offering similar. I chose the Apple Store because I like to get my stuff immediately without waiting for delivery.
This is a 12 inch 1.2 gig iBook with 768 RAM and a 30 gig hard drive. I LOVE IT! It also has 1 firewire 400 port and 2 USB 2.0 ports. The sound isn't anywhere as good as what I have on my G5 iMac but if you connect headphones, it's quite good. The external speakers leave a LOT to be desired. I also use Airport Express and you can play iTunes over your home stereo (quite nice).

I hope this isn't too off topic.

My daughter has convinced a school friend to buy an ibook.

We're thinking because he is a new user, her should stick with a new ibook.

He wants a lot of room to play his stored music at school and home.

Where do you suggest he shop for the best deal??

Also, my Ibook does not play loud.... Are all ibooks like that?

Thanks
Kim
