I love trackballs.

I recently gave a friend a modem, and she gave me her Microsoft Trackball,
a USB device with software that said it would run on both OS X and
8.6-9.x. I'm running a hybrid PCI Mac on OS 9.1, with a USB-Firewire
card and a powered USB hub.

So I loaded the software, hooked up the trackball... and the system
froze. An address error.

So I restarted with Extensions off, fiddled with the order of two
of the extensions, each time yielding the same thing.

I looked through my USB extensions and found gobs I had no use for,
de-selected them in Extensions Manager, and started up. No address
error. But also no trackball movement.

Now, prior to that final step, the trackball would work, after a
fashion, with extensions off.

I deinstalled the software, went online, and got the newest version.
Loaded it in, hooked up the trackball again, and...

Still no trackball function.

I am using my ADB trackball, still. The USB trackball is still hooked
up. If I take off the ADB device, I have no trackball functionality
at all.

Any ideas?

   Tim,

Don't know what to tell you about the microsoft trackball. But I have 3 Logitech Trackman Trackballs, I picked up here at my local BX for $20.00 a piece.. The cd didn't have os 9x software on it, but the website had all I needed. 1 runs on this G3/300 OS X/9.2.1 box, an 8600/300 running 9.2.1/8.6 and my 55/6500/250 frankenmac running 8.6
