Hi
What is it that stops you from using a 667MHz or 733MHz processor in a 466MHz or 533MHz G4 Digital Audio?
Andy
Not much. Apple OEM 667 and 733mhz cpus are Quicksilver units if I recall correctly. These have a fourth mounting hole, that they use to pickup 12v from the motherboard in addition to the power from the main socket. DA's and earlier machines don't have this fourth mount. To use the Quicksilver cpu, you just need to bring a 12v line to this mount. Some wire, a crimp connector, and a spare HD power lead supply the power, a screw, a couple washers, nut, and some electrical tape for safety put it on the cpu module.

PS: Please check my info against others before attempting. I don't have a QS cpu module handy to test with. If someone wants to lend me one knowing I may let the magic smoke out... : )
The 667 and 733 are from the 2 higher end Digital Audios and I believe that they need the same 12v to the 4th mounting point that you need to do to get a QS processor to run in a Digital Audio mac. I have put a 933 Quick Silver processor into a 533 Digital Audio and it was pretty easy to add the 12v lead to the processor. Note that the DA motherboard has a very different layout than the Gigabit motherboards.
Here is a link to someone who put a QS 867 into a Gigabit board and had to do some serious modding of the motherboard (removing an ide connector) to get it to fit.

There was no modding needed to get the 933 QS onto my DA board, besides the 12v lead.
Don't hesitate to ask me any questions about the process.
