But now in both instances I can't boot from neither one no matter what the configuration. I was able to boot each initially (at separate times) to perform updates but now my beige will lock whenever anything SCSI attempts to boot.
Even my ATA drive that has had OS X 10.2.8 has become iffy at boot. When I do get the ATA booted or boot from a CD all connected drives show up mounted just fine no matter attached to my ATTO controller or the onboard SCSI.
Let me point out I did not do the < 8 GB partition because: It's SCSI not EIDE/ATA The OS X installer allowed the install
How is your pram battery? One that is on the way out can cause these kinds of problems.
Also, the OS X installer will instal on a partition larger than 8G, even on ATA drives, but when the drive gets more than 8G of data on it is when you start having problems.
