Well, after a long time trying every software trick in
the book, I gave up on trying to get my Sawtooth to be
reliable with my G4 400mhz proc. in, I replaced it
with my older G4 350mhz proc. This solved the
locking-up/freezing issue, but then it requires me to
reset the CUDA every time I start the computer.
So I have basically come down to the processor as the
main problem here.. Nothing else I do seems to really
affect the way it works. TechTools doesn't come up
with any problems on either proc. So basically I
have:
1. G4 350mhz - Works very reliably, but I have to hit
the CUDA everytime I want the computer to start.
2. G4 400mhz - Starts without a CUDA reset, but
Freezes often requiring me to hit reset button.
If I spend the $20 for another G4 does anybody believe
it might just be both of my processors are broken? I
don't have any other machine to test them with. Does
anybody know if a 3rd Party solution (ie. Sonnet)
might work better? Hopefully somebody has come across
a situation similar to this.
