I think the archive is mainly text, although some gifs do show up. I'm trying to think of companies that aren't around anymore but were in 1996 just to see what things were like and what dreams those companies had back then. (Tried to look for my isp based web site from 1996 but I can't remember the url.)
I've mentioned stumble upon a couple of times and if anyone is looking for a new, fun way to surf, they should check it out. It's supposed to be Mac compatible, I guess depending on the browser, but I have so much fun using it, I can't figure out what I did before. You give it your likes, and it sorts out web sites for you, sites that aren't available through googling. If some folks are into web design or graphics, there are some incredible sites out there which stumble upon finds. No adware or anything like that, just pure fun. You tell it what you like, and it finds the sites. Each site is then given a yay or a nay by you. Every now and then, if you are the first stumbler, you get to write in a critique of the site. I've been around since 1996 on the net and this is like a breath of fresh air. Sure it's OT but it's a holiday time too and everyone has a bit more time to surf.
