I know it works backward within a system, say from 10.28 down to 10.2 again, but I'm not sure about between, say 10.3 and 10.2. In theory, all it really does is copy user information from the old to the new system, so it *should*. Perhaps the underlying problem updating was also the cause of the failure of the A&R re-install...
What is an AGO? I don't recognize that one...
I don't think the keyboard is the problem, but it really sounds as though you've got video issues.
