Okay, so my B&W has been running pretty good since I figured out the problem was the HD and not the motherboard. I did have one small problem that the machine would be locked up once it booted up. No keyboard or mouse action possible. I would have to reboot via the reset button on the front and then constantly move my mouse while it was booting. That would usually work and allow me to use the computer once it had started back up. Then the other day I tried to start it up and I got the dreaded "You need to restart your computer" message with the black background repeated in several languages! No amount of rebooting would get me past this screen. So I tried with my Panther DVD and got the machine to boot using it. Once there I used the disk utility to repair permissions and while there I went ahead and made a backup of my entire boot drive to a backup data drive. Tried the reboot but I could not get it to work still getting the restart message. So I booted up with the Panther DVD once more and completely reformatted my boot drive and reinstalled the OS. It would then boot just fine. For the heck of it I used the startup drive function and this time pointed to the copy of my previous 10.3.7 system on my data drive. To my amazement, it worked and that is what I'm using right now. Anyone have a clue as to why this happened and why the old system works fine on the other HD? One additional thing, I figured the lockup problem I was having originally had something to do with the USB being as the mouse, keyboard and printer are all connected that way and I disconnected my printer since all of this came about.

Just a message from Doug...
