I have an M-audio 2496 MIDI/sound card that I'm trying to set up to record old LP's. I was advised to hook the card to an amplifier external to the Mac via -10 db RCA line outs (L/R). Does the Mac have a good enough amplifier so I can hook up the -10 db line outs to the microphone input on the back of the mac using two RCA to 1 stereo miniplug? If so, can I hear what is coming out of the M-audio card through the headphone jack on my Mac?
