Bruce,
Are there entries in the system or console log when the send fails?
Is there a place to go that explains what the console log is saying in 
plain english?
I get a lot of these messages in the console:
Attempt to release a printing object without first doing a retain!!!
Attempt to release a printing object without first doing a retain!!!
Attempt to release a printing object without first doing a retain!!!

You're not normally running as the user 'root' are you? That causes 
all sorts of odd problems with OS X....

I am running my computer under the installation name my installer 
prompted me to give.
Is that the 'root' user that I should not be using?
