Regular digital camera pics that were sent to him...
Maybe they were corrupted in transit, but *both* of them????? I think it's a PC/Mac thing, but I'm not sure....
Tim,
Have you tried dropping them on a browser? That has worked for me before with stubborn jpgs.
Yes... tried Exploder and Safari both....
Is it possible they were compressed before sending and that they're really .zip files? (I know, it makes no sense, but I've had mis-labelled attachments before like that)
A jpeg is a jpeg is a jpeg...if Graphic Converter can't open it, it's not likely to be a graphic file.
Can't be a Mac/PC thing. Except for executable files, there really *aren't* Mac/PC issues. There are decoder issues, like some .avi files, but not Jpeg's.
Open the file in Textedit, or open a terminal window and do:
more <filename>
It should look like:
<FF><D8><FF><E0>[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Right at the beginning if it's a JPEG file. Look for 'JFIF' in the first line, the rest will be binary garbage. Sometimes you'll see other information, as the EXIF headers come soon after that and you may see other data.
