Aerielle,

If at any time you reformatted, or even zapped the PRAM, this would reset
the memory CP to engage virtual memory, which is "factory default' for many
classic (old world) Mac models. After putting fresh OS installs on my 7100s,
8100s, 8600s, 9500s, beige G3s, Quadra 840AV (and whatever I owned in the
past), after initial reboot I would 1st go to memory CP and turn off virtual
memory.
Perhaps some of your actions duplicated this phenomenon?
