I hope I didn't confuse the attribution of the sender too badly. It's -50F
here in Fairbanks, AK with ice fog, and I'm a cab driver after a night's
work, so please chalk up any brain farts of mine to the fact that our blood
is rushing to cover the whole walking bag of water and tissue up here right
now.
In other words, cut me a little slack.
Ah yes, and the crackheads.
I hooked up a new two-port USB Kensington keyboard (which I much prefer to a
yuppie clacker) to a Lombard (OS 9.2.2, 320 MB RAM, stock 8 GB HD, with all
kinds of stuff going on in the background) almost a year ago. Then I plugged
a new Logitech optical mouse into one of the USB ports on the keyboard.
On the rare occasions when I have to restart, I have to pull out the USB,
shut down, reboot; then put the system to sleep and plug in the USB stuff
before waking it. After that, it all runs famously.
Logitech supplied a driver and I installed it, but I've had it turned off in
Extensions Manager for a long, long time with no problems. And the mouse
still works on this machine.
If you put the USB in live, you can have a crapshoot with stability; the USB
works very well under sleep; anybody's guess.
One never knows.
I'm running Office 2001 on this Lombard, with Mozilla 1.2.1, so I figure
it's anybody's guess.
I'm making dinner for a friend on Sunday night and we may be going
snow-machining, so I don't really give a sh*t.
Wish us luck. Viewing moose and the Aurora are a lot of fun until you come
between a cow and a young 'un. Then you just might as well stand still and
pee your pants when the cow comes up to you and looks you in the face and
sniffs you. Heck, you can't outrun them -- they run 35 mph. I have the
equipment to kill them, but I won't do that.
I seem to pass inspection. By the Alaskan moose and the Natives, I mean.
