Yes, I agree, for other reasons:
The 200 MHz 604e with 512k cache is as fast or faster
than a NewerTech G3 300 Mhz with 1 MB cache on my 9500
with 384 MB Ram. (Problem: OSX won't install, prob.
because of the lack of either onboard video or a 16 MB
ATI made-for-Apple video card).
During Jobs' absence, Apple was merely a struggling
company that specialized in "advanced computer"
electronics. Now, it's "consumer" electronics that
rules.
Lowering the price on a Mac - but the prices of clones
have dropped. You could get a refurbished, loaded
64-bit AMD CPU and monitor for Cdn $999 at Futureshop
(BestBuy) before the holidays.
