These days there are more than one kind of external modem. If for ordinary dialup you want a 56k one (not the slower 33k or 28k, which people mostly throw away now) with a serial (RS232) connection. You will need a Mac modem cable to connect this to your modem port -- which may be harder to find than a modem now). These will probably work with one of the generic modem scripts, you should try several to see which gives the best results. Some work better in overcoming bad line, for instance, if you have that problem. There are also USB external modems, but even if you have USB ports I'd be wary of one of these as they're likely only to work with Windows. >Does the Biege MT/(G4/500) support pci modems?
