I have the same problem. The only way I have found to open a wpd
document is to save it to my desktop, go to Virtual PC where I have
Word Perfect installed and open it there. It's a lot of hassle and
expense to have Virtual and Perfect. We should all get together and
write Microsoft to add a Word Perfect opener to MS Office for Mac. If
memory serves me, you used to be able to open any word processing
document in MS Word.
