No problem. I've got machines running 10.3.6 and 10.2.6, and though OS X has definitely improved with each major upgrade I've never found it too painful to use the older versions apart from software compatibility. And I still need Classic mode. There is some logic to my decision (or so I keep telling myself). The B&W has until recently been entirely in 9.2.2 for various reasons, one being speed but another being the use of old hardware (Voodoo3 card for dual monitor, CD-RW apparently not supported under any version of OS X, etc., etc.). I was in a position where to switch to OS X meant upgrading a lot of hardware and software, but in the last few months various things have changed, including my DAT drive playing up and I've discovered that actually Retrospect does work with my CD-RW under OS X. So instead of rushing out to get 10.3 I've decided to "suffer" for the next few (fingers crossed!) months in 10.1.5 until Tiger comes out. When I need dual monitor support or software that I haven't moved over or tested under Classic I'll boot into 9.2.2. The fact that this isn't my main machine does help, plus I don't want to have to buy 10.3 and then Tiger not long after (fingers crossed again). Then when Tiger comes out hopefully I'll be in a good position to archive & upgrade (maybe) and get a new graphics card. Or after all this something will turn up that makes running Tiger on this B&W a non- starter, at which point in a fit of temper it'll get relegated to server duty (10.1.5 will do fine) or OS 9.2.2-only duty and I'll start lusting after a new machine*.
