Hi all, Thanx for your input concerning the FireWire boot question with the beiges. In the near future I'll be using my external FW-drive to swap movies and other big files with a Windoze-friend.
I ran into major compatibility problems, could only read NTFS-files but not write to a NTFS disk, my PeeCee-friend couldn't read a HFS(+) disk. I formatted the external as UFS but that wasn't readable on the PeeCee either ... I finally found a good workable solution, the Linux disk format, Ext2. You can get the installer that makes your OSX-machine Ext2-capable at http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=64713 Works like a charm. Copying is faster on my old G3 beige than on the super-fast PeeCee of my friend. Maybe because Linux is closer to OSX than Windoze, both being Nix? Just wanted to share ... Or are there even better ways to share big files between OSX and Windoze? Please don't suggest getting VirtualPC ;-) Jrg. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
