I'm surprised that your PC friends have nothing but complaints about it, but then perhaps I shouldn't be because there is a very narrow minded view amongst many (primarily, if not exclusively from the Windows world) that IE is the web - if a page doesn't display properly in IE then it is broken, if it doesn't display properly in any other browser, but it does in IE then the browser is broken. The simple fact is that IE is years out of date in supporting W3C standards, and many web designers are lazy and only test for it. Anyway, to the question in hand, although I can't speak for it under the Mac platform (my Macs all run OS 7.x through 9.x as none is powerful enough for OS X yet), I have used it extensively since a fairly early development version on both Windows and Linux. It is my preferred browser, and in spite of the number of inadequate web designers out there, I have few problems viewing sites, few problems with stability, no problems with malware or virus', and a far better experience using it since the interface is vastly superior to IE. I probably ought to confess to the fact that I have used Netscape/Mozilla since Netscape version 1.1 and have a pukka copy of 1.2 on diskettes. This could make my opinion biased I guess! If anyone wants to donate funds for a Mac Mini, or some memory to upgrade my tray load iMac 233 to cope with OS X then I can rave about it on Mac too ;-) I do use Opera too once in a while, and used to more often a few years back, but Firefox (Mozilla) has taken over again now. -- Paul Tansom | Aptanet Ltd. | http://www.aptanet.com/ -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
