Greetings, all.
That hard drive must be hosed, because I swapped out the HD today with another one, this one an 8.4GB. I easily installed Panther and OS 9.2.1 onto that hard drive. It's too small for production work, but at least it confirms that the problem was indeed the hard drive.
Now I'm wondering if I can rescue the drive... Hmm...
