Hi,
(DAT walkman anyone?)
Yep, I love mine. No Mini-Disc or MP3-Player will ever be
able to touch it, no data compression and it can record
live with CD-quality ...
I also own a high-end stationary Sony DAT-recorder (about
2000 bucks when new, got it used on the net for 300) that
sounds every bit as nice as my high-end CD-player, the
data of both being processed through a very nice tube-DAC
...
DAT-stuff is dirt-cheap on the net because it's not a
"standard" and that's why people with "golden ears" and a
very tight budget like me can still enjoy high-end sound.
A niche can be very accommodating sometimes. I got my
beige MT for nothing because it's considered a "niche"
with PC-users ...
Jrg.
