i could be wrong, but i think there is a limit on disk size support on
earlier machines - it's got something to do with 'big disk support' on the
ata bus.

the only reason i found out about it was when we bought our sonnet ata 133
card and it quoted:

"Tempo ATA133 is required to support large drives (160GB and larger). It
shatters the 120GB limit found in most Macs."
