I'm not that familiar with Mac software, is there a program that will

anyone know of a program/speech synthesizer program that will do this?

WireTap from Ambrosia will do this on OS X. It will capture any sound from your system to a file.

Thanks to Bruce and Ian, but due to the fact that hotpop's SMTP server went belly up, I was unable to post that particular question for some time and was forced to google for an answer. I actually came up with a good one too. This is easily accomplished with an Apple script as follows:

say "TEXT STRING" using "CHOSEN VOICE" saving to file (((path to desktop) as string) & "filename.aiff")

I actually needed an MP3 for my purpose, but converting from AIFF to MP3 was easily done with iTunes.

Just a message from Doug...
