Never had a Mac Plus but snipping the resister was required on certain SE's 
to increase RAM to 4 MB IIRC. Surprised my dripping sweat didn't destroy the 
logicboard when I did it.

But worst than the snip was soldering the severed resister back.  I don't 
remember why -- maybe for a processor upgrade -- but I do remember sweating 
bullets on a cold winter's day.

Funny how the Mac mini brings back memories of Apple's earliest compact Macs.
