One easy solution would be to get one and mount the mobo and monitor guts from an older Powerbook in it, some of them (2300 Duo, etc) were fair to middlin' 9.1 machines. And there'd be room left to put the HD and a CDRW in it, along with a modem.
Was there a way to put an ethernet interface on a 2300?
I could rout out the beveling on the toasterbox and fit up to an 11" flat panel in it, but that's still too small for a Lombard.
Here's what I could use for this project:
500/PPC, 9.5"
1400, 11.4"
2400, 10.5"
5300, some with 10.5" active matrix - and had PCMCIA slots, could use with ethernet
(don't nobody send me any of these now, I'm just pipe dreaming)
If I was an electronic genius I'd figure out how to adapt one of those displays to use with a VGA or Mac style interface
Still, a color monitor running in a Plus box, running Jaguar or Panther, on an iMac, that'd be an IMac Plus! har har

iMac Plus:
I've got the guts of an iMac 233 mounted in a Mac Plus case... running headless as a server at the moment, awaiting the day I find a 9" LCD monitor to mount inside it.
Do they make such creatures? I rode past a Mac SE in a pile of cast-offs on the street today, and though briefly of bringing it home. If it's still there tonight on the way home, I may just do it anyway for an aquarium base.
Lots of room for a mini, and you could easily rout out one of the slots in front to accept the CD from the mini-slotloader; but the monitor thing was the kicker.
Be a gas, though, to turn on a Mac SE and have a color screen with OS X pop up.
That's it, I'm gonna do a mod on the OCC logo, to OCCC 'Orange County Computer Choppers'..;-P
