I haven't actually used it but everything I've found says that AOL for
OS X is incapable of sending plain text emails.  They generally
recommend AOL 5.1 for OS X to send text based emails.  However, emails
sent through http://webmail.aol.com seem to be plain text, so that is
another possible solution.
