The price of CD-RWs have really dropped. Just watch the Sunday paper
advertisements, I got my last 25 for free after a $10 rebate.

I started using RWs about 2 years ago for monthly (when I remember) backup.
The biggest pro over cd-r is you dont keep adding to a growing mound of
CD's. Lets face it, were usually backing up the same files multiple times
anyway.

I still do an annual data archive at the end of the year on cd-r.

Of course the obvious downside of using rws is the re-write speed. Always
slower than a cd-r.

We dont have that much data to back up, I only use 8 cd-rws in each set.
So I dont find the extra burn time to be a big factor, I just let it run in
the background.

As with any data backup, I recommend you do a staggered backup with multiple
CD's. For my monthly backup I only use 2 sets. Set 1 & Set 2. Jan is set 1,
Feb is set 2, Mar is set 1 and so on. So you always have 2 months of data
backed up at all times.

All the best.
