Hi all,

Well, I got my Mac Mini up and running last night (finally!). It's not set up like I want it yet - I still haven't gotten a KVM switch, so I've got it hooked up to a spare 15" monitor and a Gateway keyboard for now (with the monitor sitting on top of an old 7100/66 PPC to get it up to usable height ;).

OS X is SO different! Everything looks weird! (Weird in a WOW way). There are no borders on the windows, so the illusion of floating is kinda freaky. My eyes are used to defining windows by their borders, so they keep sliding out of the window.

It has been a rough night. I tried importing my mail from my old G3 directly into Mail, and something went wrong - my inbox is full of mail from (it looks like) the day I initiated using Eudora on it. I was wondering why it took so long...

Then I downloaded FireFox and was totally confused for about 10 minutes. I had to go back and read the install instructions to figure out what was going on.

After that, I downloaded Eudora for OSX, but couldn't figure how to get my mail transferred over. I wound up installing Classic environment (which came with the Mini, but has to be installed from a DVD) so I could try transferring Eudora over so I could figure out how to get things going. _Finally_ figured that out... (just needed to put the right folder in the right place). I'd still like to try using Mail, but I'm pooped.

But before I go - I'd like to find an application to replace JpegView in X. If you're not familiar with JpegView, it's a sweet picture viewing program with click&drag resizing and crop & zoom functions. Any suggestions for a program to replace it in X?

First of all, welcome to OS X. I think you will find it to be an EXCELLENT operating system and workspace.

Next, good luck on the mail transition. OS X Mail was the FIRST email client good enough to finally get me off of elm. Yes, I had used elm since 1989... until I switched to Mail 2-3 years ago.

Finally, it's not really a JPEGView replacement, but you might want to try OS X's included "Preview" application - it may do everything you want.

Again, welcome to the NeXT...er...OS X World. We think you're gonna love it here.
