I think you should have a look at the used emacs, on ebay they are cheap and are a lot of Mac for the money. I moved from a G3 mini Tower 300, overclocked to 350. and a lombard 400. To a 1.25ghz eMac usb 2.0 2004 model and a 2003 ibook 14.1 both with airport and reduced my cables. to a minimum also increased the hdd and the cpu and ram on both systems buy stacks, now my Macs are trouble free, running the latest 10.3.8 (only thing that it stops is the tinkering). but i could not go back as a main mac to any less because you get used to the speed and ease.

Also it reduces the desk clutter as all you need is the mains and keyboard and mouse no need for the ethernet or the external re-writer or the printer cables, (the joys of wireless).
