Does anyone know if there are any third-party alternatives to the Harmon

If so, how would one go about finding them? If I search eBay for "G4
Speakers", all I seem to get is the Harmon Kardons. I'm looking for more
choices. Thanks. John Hixson
There are two jacks on the back of a DA. The first is a 1/8" stereo headphone jack. It's standard line out, suitable for headphones or external speakers. The second is a tad smaller to prevent you from accidentally plugging headphones into it. This is the famed 'digital' jack. The only thing special about it, the amp is onboard the mobo, so the speakers hooked to it don't need amps of their own. Nothing digital actually goes over that line if I recall correctly.

So Mike was right earlier in saying that any external computer speakers will work with the "Digital Audio" G4-----you just plug them into that 1/8" headphone jack on the back. In fact, I just did that, and it works fine. I had some external speakers plugged into an iMic, which in turn was plugged into a USB port, and they were working fine that way, but they work just as well plugged into that headphone jack on the back of the tower.
So, what would be the advantage of me getting some of these Harmon Kardon Apple Pro speakers? I'm wondering if the sound would be all that much better than the speakers I have now, which say Altec Lansing on them (I don't know where they came from, or what quality they are).
BTW, why is this model G-4 called the Digital Audio anyway? I still have the box it came in, and it says nothing on it anywhere about this model being anything special for audio, nor does the manual mention any special audio features. Are we saying that other G-4s didn't come with the "digital jack" that Josh mentions above, that this one has? Or that the others don't have the 1/8" headphone jack either?
