Next, good luck on the mail transition. OS X Mail was the FIRST email

since 1989... until I switched to Mail 2-3 years ago.

Tried Mail, didn't like it. It's just not powerful enough for my needs (I'm an archiver - I have THOUSANDS of old emails I keep for reference). Further, it has no mechanism to import address books or filters. I also wasn't happy with the interface (ya get used to something and ya just can't change).

I have about 10 years' worth of email on my IMAP server, and Mail.app accesses it all just fine.

As for importing address books, of course there is! OS X's Address Book application (this is where Mail.app gets its address info) imports vCards. You can Google for a CSV-to-vCard converter, which means you can import any addresses that can be exported to CSV.

As for importing filters, yeah, I don't know of a way either. But as I said, this was my first graphical client, so I've never filtered before. However, since the filtering configuration is just an XML file (~/Library/Mail/MessageSorting.plist) one could conceivably write a script to generate the XML based on the rules one wants to use.

Now that I've finally got my email transferred correctly (I had massive problems the next morning that had to do with the way I transferred the files) I'm going to take a rest, then I'm going to give Thunderbird a try. I test drove it on Winduhs and didn't like it, but Eudora on Winduhs is SO different from the Mac version...

Honestly, I think Eudora on Windows is the single worst mail application I have ever used. That is the standard mail app at my company of employment, and everybody uses it except for the few of us with Macs -- and all of us Mac users use OS X Mail...

Finally, it's not really a JPEGView replacement, but you might want to
try OS X's included "Preview" application - it may do everything you
want.

Nope, sorry. It's a neat application but it doesn't do drag&resize - so I can't control how big the resizing is (I do onscreen montages then capture them). Also, there's a minimum width on the windows which I can't seem to get around. I'm gonna have to go with JpegView in Classic emulation until I can find (or make) an application that suits my needs.

Well, there's PhotoStudio X too. You might want to try that.
