Main problem is (I think) I never get told about it installing the firmware patch (the supposed dialog box that has instructions, then you press & hold the programmer's button, etc. then a progress bar) well I NEVER see ANY of that stuff.
So right now I'm an unhappy camper. Seriously thinking of going back to the G3 minitower, cuz it sure as heck is faster!

I just upgraded my zif to a G4 500 Mhz from fastmacs and had a similar experience. I never got the long tone that is supposed to happen when you boot with the programmer button held in. Turns out you need something with a point to push it in all the way. Once I did that and heard the tone, everything else went as smooth as silk. HTH
