OS X use Carbon Copy Cloner <http://www.bombich.com>
If you want a slicker program, albeit at a small price tag (not free), I highly recommend SuperDuper! Not free, but cheap. Actually it can be used for a basic clone for free, so in part it's free. SuperDuper!'s "smart update" feature (only available if you register) is much faster and more reliable than CCC's use of "psync" for this. Also has this zany "Safety Clone" concept that is hard to explain. Don't use a Safety Clone as a backup!! Do a regular clone.
