Ah.. WriteNow! Definitely the best word processing program I have ever met, any platform. It was my trusted work horse for over 10 years as a professional writer. As stated, it had very small requirements for both RAM and HD space, very fast and saved small (compressed?) documents. So small in fact, that even the last version could be run on a one-discette Mac Plus without a HD! And totally consistent, following Apples Human Interface Guidelines exactly - you never saw the greyed-out "Can't Undo" you meet in lots of other applications.

I always laughed and shook my head about the endless problems and discussions around M$ Word. Ever heard of a mail-list for WriteNow problems...?

In fact, it is the only thing I miss from the pre-OSX days. WriteNow broke in 8.5/8.6 (so I stayed in 8.1), but worked again from 9.0 onwards. Ran it for a while under Classic (which works perfectly on my G4 iBook 933MHz), before finally dumping my longtime lover and moving to TextEdit. Not at all the same thing, but...

Looking forward to Apples new word processor Pages. But if WriteNow could somehow be resurrected to native OSX I would be very happy, and pay any price!
