A couple questions about hard drives. I have an 8gb which came with my B&W. I purchased a 220 gb drive, but I do not have an ata card. I thought I would wait awhile and I plan on getting one soon. So the larger drive only read as 128gb. I feel that I have to run Disk Utility and Diskwarrior very often on these drives, more so with the 8gb than the 220gb. I need to run them any time I install new software and hardware, otherwise every week or ten days. Mainly this seems to be various permissions that need to be repaired. Additionally the 8gb recently refused to mount. Then a few days later it mounted and I ran the utilities and it has worked for a couple days. I suspect the drive is close to dying. Any thoughts?
Thanks

Is your G3 a rev. 1 edition? If so, buy a Sonnet Tempo ATA133 PCI card for $97USD. Your drive should read then higher attached to the ATA133. It won't give you 220 GB; however, but a rather a lower number. This has something to do with the difference between a bite and an octet. Call it truth in advertising or use the value that's larger when printing labels for a HD. In my B&W G3, a WD HD labeled 160 GB has 149 GB. See also <http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/G3-ZONE/yosemite/IDE/>
On your other drive, consider backing up and erasing the disk. That often restores a dying HD. My original 9 GB (8.5 GB actual) is still OK and it's been erased and restored several times since 1999.
