G'day from Oz
I've just bought a Canon lide 35 scanner, but am dissatisfied with the colour matching. Very red, and difficult to get right.
Is there any calibrating hardware I can buy that will help me get accurate colours on my sons wedding photos?
Running a sp 1.8 MHz G5 and 23" Cinema Display (just a damn expensive hobby)
MacWorld just reviewed three: <http://www.macworld.com/2005/03/reviews/monitorcalibrator/index.php> None are particularly cheap.
What scanner software are you using? Pro and semi-pros I know use either Silverfast <http://www.silverfast.com/show/silverfast-se/en.html> or VueScan <http://www.hamrick.com>
Both allow considerably greater finesse in color correction in-scanner.
Color calibration is a complex subject. Too bad you're in Oz, I could recommend a course in St. Louis, MO...a friend lives there (she's a graphic artist) and she just went to a really good course at their community college there, which has a sizeable graphics arts curriculum.
