I wanted to take a peek at the file first to see if there were any errors being logged before getting too involved in splitting it up, hence the need for some kind of editor or viewer. I've got an old version of Text Wrangler 1.x on this iBook (yes, I was one of the (few?) people who actually bought it) but it tries loading the whole file. I completely forgot about using "more", etc. - I'm not a Unix newbie but I'm not exactly a guru either. I'll try out some of your suggestions.
